Hooray for BEADS!

Hello friends!

Remember when I told you I made some beads at a friends studio the other day? Well I just loaded those up into the shop! It was just a small handful of beads, but it was nice to melt glass again after about a month( I can't believe it's been that long)!
Here is a shot of the new beads. Both of these styles will be featured in Step-by-Step-Wire July? 2014 issue :D

I also FINALLY got a chance to list some goodies that I didn't get to list before I moved.
Here is the Q&D for those of you that don't have more time to read ;)

Beach Stone Rounds- "Sahara"- On occasion I do take requests for things. I made some chubby rounds(or rondelles) for a customer and had some extra so here they are. As you may know my "Sahara" beads are a favorite among myself and my customers. Normally you will see these in the form of my headpins, smaller coins and large coin beads.
Mystic Moon & Sister Sun "Peach Persimmon"- You may remember these amazing batik style beads from last year. I LOOOOOOOOOOVED them and you all did as well(since they are no longer in my shop ;) This bead got nabbed up by Denise Peck at Bead Fest Philly last year so that is why you never saw it after the show. This is the front.
The back side.

"Rainbow Serpent Stick"- These beads always turn out so gorgeous. I wind up with many different color fades when I create these beads. I only got to make a few and they were different from my previous batches so they got different listings.

"Rainbow Serpent Stick"- See what I mean. This one has some really pretty pastels with some bright amber and cranberry :D

"Rainbow Urchin" clasp-Who doesn't love my sea urchin designs? I had to make some of these for another future magazine submission so I had lots of extras :D

Last, but not least... "Turbulent Tides Rainbow Urchin" heart focal- Um yeah, what a gorgeous bead huh?! I crammed all of the awesome I could possible get onto this bead: an urchin dot, twisted glittery waves of dichro, a rainbow serpent, some silvered ivory. Yum!!

I even got a chance to make my friend Melissa an amazing pair of earrings. Remember my "Loving Lotus Ray" earrings? Well this is that same style with different beads. Melissa loves ivory and orange so I picked out this combo just for her :)

Well that is all for me for now. I hope to get my studio up and running VERY soon. Stay tuned.

Turned To Stone Part II & "Artful Additions"

Hello friends!

Wow it's been a whirl wind week. I have seriously had every day run into another with just going, going, going from day to night! It's been craziness. This is totally not the norm for me.  I am, of course, stoked about these NEW stone beads and some other little "artful additions" I have added to my shop.

Here are the new beauty's in the shop. So if this is where you want to jump off the ride and run to the shop, you may ;)

Wing Dings Beach Stone- "Black Lava"- your classic black pair of stone wing dings. Perfect for everything!

Wing Dings- Beach Stone- "Coral Rainbow Leopard"- Yum! Just look at all of that luscious rainbow color on that gorgeous bright coral!
"Coral Peach Silver Thread Serpent"- Wow is that a mouthful :P You can blame my long names on my art teachers. In school they always made you title your pieces ;) So this baby is pretty gorgeous! I textured some of it and left spots of it shiny along with the rainbow bubble buttons. I just LOVE coral glass. It has some gorgeous peachy coraly pinky spots to it that aren't as vivid if you etch them. This heart has it all, shiny, stone and matte with a beautiful ribbon of silver running down the center and black stripey serpents up the sides!

Wing Dings- Beach Stone- "Electric Lime Silver Thread Jewel"- Again with the everything you could want on a bead! Oh and lime green is my favorite! I am so excited about how well these translated over from my glass headpin design like them. In fact I even made earrings with the pair I saved for me!
OMG... up aren't these to die for?! The gorgeous ear wires and water color washed hoops of violet and blue are from Miss Fickle Media. The incredibly detailed spiral antiqued coins are from Starry Road Studio. Aren't our beads incredible together?! It's like they created these beads to match without ever knowing it.

and now for the "Artful Additions"

So here is the back story on them....

So you remember that time when I had to wait to re-set up my lampwork studio after moving right. I didn't make beads for several weeks. Well I got stuck on making these adjustable recycled sari silk necklaces. They really speak to me because they are not only amazingly beautiful, but they are recycled and  I like to imagine the store the clothes would tell. Like maybe this outfit was worn on a date with their love or they wore this outfit in some beautiful exotic place... Well I just fell in love with the necklaces for their beauty and simplicity so I just kept making them. Each was so pretty I just HAD to try the next color and before you know it I had made 50!! LOL. So that leads us to this listing...

18-20" Recycled Sari Silk Necklace- Here is what the necklace looks like. You will receive ONE necklace in this style of the color of your choice. So these necklaces are great if you just want to buy a bead and wear it right away or they can also be embellished in whatever way you choose! How sweet is that?!

Here is the color palette from which you have to choose. Yay!

The next "Artful Addition" I have is the "Wooly Wire Bail Upgrade" option.
As you know, I LOVE Wooly Wire! So I made up several of designs using this bail technique.
"Wooly Wire Bail Upgrade"- So this is how this listing works. You will need to purchase a focal from my shop, I will take that focal and wire-wrap it into this amazing wooly wire bail for you! You can then wear it as is, add a dangle, or even use this piece in your design! Yay! How cool is that?! This is great if you just want to wear something right away or you need to pick up a gift ;)

Do you want a smaller style focal? You can also choose to have a small Wooly Wire bail created as well like the one below!

You then have your choice of What Wooly Wire you would like for the bail here.

Here is a finished you can have when you shop for these wonderful items in my shop! Yay! Look at that instant customizable gift!

I would love to hear your thoughts on these new "Artful Additions"! You can also stay tuned for these as TUTORIALS! So if you choose you can even make your own. I am working on those as we speak and hope to have them up soon.

Stay tuned for more beady awesome!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Bowls of soup in the shop!

Hello friends!

More soup beads for the shop! I have been busily stocking my shop with similar goodies to Gail's soup. It's just easier to make a huge run of beads in the same style while you are vibing. I always enjoy doing a little raku and ivory binge. I am always pleased with the results and it was nice to be inspired to push the designs when creating her second soup!

Here is a photo of Gail's second soup and the inspiration for my new shop additions.
In case you didn't hear, we were lucky to have Gail's first soup show up! We were both so relieved!
Ancient Magic "Heart Spear". Taking the "Ancient Tablet" style and creating a heart focal was SO much fun! I really love the way Gail's turned out so I had to make one for the shop :) There are just so many awesome things going on in these style focals I would have to take like a bagillion pictures to capture everything. You will just have to take my word that it's amazing or just see for yourself ;)

Love's Flight "Cream" button clasp. Didn't they turn out AWESOME?! I was really pleased with Gail's. I love that little bit of webbing you see on the top right cheek and the bit of silver down by the bottom point of the heart.

Love's Flight "Midnight". You know if' it's awesome in ivory, than it must be equally awesome in black!

"Midnight Jewels"- glass headpins. Wow! These are so much fun to make and use for jewelry! I created this awesome bracelet and used the very first one I made for the dangle accent! Holy freakin' YUM!

"Painted Desert 2"- glass toggle. WOW! Gail's toggle sure was pretty and then the next one I made, and now this one! It's pretty exciting to see what colors you will get when working with Raku. I got some really awesome yellows, greens, browns and deep blues in this toggle set!

IN OTHER NEWS....

Is everyone ready for their bead soup reveal? I know I am!! I can't wait to visit Gail's blog to see what she created! I am also excited to share my creations and design process! My blog it set to post at 12am so if you can't wait you know what time you can expect to see it. Just remember I'm on pacific time so if you are east coast that's 3am for you!

Wow, Friday already huh?! I just dropped my baby girl, Kayla off at the vet this morning for her spay. I was excited to hear that her surgery went well and that I can come pick her up after 3:30pm. I'm so thankful my roomie, Jodi is jetting out of work so take Kayla home. You know you forget about those kinds of things when you have  car all the time ;)  For the most part it isn't so bad. Public transit here totally rocks :D

Well Kayla isn't the only one that won't be having "puppies". I just went to the doctor myself on Wednesday and got an IUC(same thing as an IUD). No kids for the C-K family at the moment. Does this mean we will never have kids? No, not at all. We just wanted to get me off the pill and wait a couple more years before we start out family. Ricky and I are both in the process of building out business' so we want some time to take care of those things first. We are also working on getting in phenomenal shape. We figure if you are in top notch shape before having kids it's best for both mother and child for sure :)

Well I should get going. I need to get my stuff together for our first Orb's lampwork group get together on Sunday! I will be demoing my "Jaw Breaker" bead and showing some jewelry assembly! Our meeting is over at the Aquila Glass school if you are local and want to check things out!

I hope everyone is enjoying this cooler fall weather! Have a wonderful weekend!

More shop goodies! Glass Headpins and Wing Dings!

Hello friends!

Happy Thursday!  So where have I been for btw? Well I no longer have a bead table since my move! Sad face, huh? It's ok though. I have been busily creating beads for you in the mean time. I will get a beady surface coming up here so I can work on some more designing. For now what's left of my computer desk and night stand will have to suffice.

I took advantage of the SUPER bright sunshine on the summer solstice to do some photographing for the items I am listing today. I am always pleasantly surprised at just how beautifully sunlight kisses glass :D I'm sure you will agree when you see the photos below!

So what's new, you ask?
"Coffee Bean Blend"- remember these? They were in and out of the shop quickly so I wanted to make another set. I really LOVE the sculptural style of these headpins, especially in a coffee theme! :D

"Coffee Bean Blend 2"- Ok so you are wondering the difference, right? Same awesome shapes with a little switcheroo on colors ;)

"Green Sea Paradise"- Yum, huh?! All of my favority stuff! Lime and aquay, glittery, odd lotty. Ok so the y's don't work on everything but the colors and finishes sure do! :D

"Rainbow Streamers"- I know, they totally look like balloon's right? With the spiral they totally reminded me of party streamers. You know, the kind you make by running them along scissors? So fun! They totally make me happy with their rainbowiness and shininess.

Wing Dings "Bright Earth"- is that an oxymoron? I dunno, but that's what they are, bright and earthy all at the same time! Isn't this color scheme MAGICAL?! I took my  "Earth Blushes" Wing Ding Waterfall necklace colors and added a few extras to make this set of 7. I really LOVE this wonderful color gradation of multi colored glass!

I know, I totally owe you pictures of Portland too. I am slacking. Honestly I am all pictured and descriptioned out at the moment. I promise to add some of my favs soon for all of you that aren't on facebook.
Well it's 4pm here and I am STILL in my pj's from this morning when I started my listings so I think I'm going to get dressed and enjoy the afternoon/evening.

Thanks for stopping by! Have an amazing day!

NEW Coffee Themed Beads in the Shop!

Hello friends!

I did it! I did it! I wasn't sure what the day would hold, but since it was BALLS HOT and humid today that meant no lampworking. So instead I roasted on the porch just long enough to shoot some photos for listings!

I was totally in LOVE with the beads and NEW headpins I made for mom's birthday! Incase you didn't see them, here is her set.

Pretty f*ing amazing if I do say so myself!  Well you all know I love coffee and I love you, SO I made more!

So what do I have in the shop for you today?
Perfect Cup "Butternut". I do wish the picture wasn't so grainy, but for some reason this baby wasn't cooperating with me inside or outside. I assure you, it's awesome ;)
"Coffee Bean Mixxer" featuring my NEW sculptural coffee themed glass headpins and coffee bean dotted bead!
"Coffee Bean Blend" set of 5 sculptural and droplet headpins! A coffee bean, paddle with coffee bean accent, paddle with heart accent and 2 spotty drop headpins! Wowee!

Shop sale announcement coming this week!

Have a fabulous week!

Much love,

Genea

New in the Shop!

Hello friends!

Wow has it been awhile since I listed. It feels really good to be back in the rhythm again!

"Grape and Raspberry"- a gorgeous sampling of the pretties pinks and purple droplet headpins on copper wire :) I am almost out of these pretty odd lots so grab 'em while I got 'em!

"Jaw Breaker" opaque and transparent spiral headpins made to match my "Jaw Breaker" hollow bead and disc set that was published in Glass Pattern's Quarterly 2011. The red is more red than it appears in the photo.
"Jaw Breaker" wing dings! Bright bold colors like the teeny jaw breaker candies I used to buy when I was a kid :D Also made to match the "Jaw Breaker" set that was published ;)

"Love the Bean" and ode to coffee and my love for it. Made in awesome earth tones.

Well that's it for today! The sun is shining with warm weather and a nice breeze. I'm off to walk Leeloo before the sweltering heat and humidity return to Kansas City!

Have a fantastic weekend!

See you soon!

Much love,

Genea
