Making mud

Well I am finally making beads. I am playing with the reformulated Terra glass from Double Helix. So far I am not getting the amazing results I had hoped for when moving up to my hotter torch :( Hopefully this batch will be better than the last. Why they ever changed the original batch of Terra I am unsure. The original Terra produces AMAZING colors with little to no effort. Here is a link to their site so you can see what I mean... www.doublehelixglassworks.com

Well I am at the local library computer so I will just leave you with this quick blip until next time.

New items listed on Etsy

Hey all! Just a quick reminder to let you know I listed a few more items on Etsy. I hope to have more up soon.

From this to that

Here is an image of the keychain I made for Kenne(the wonderful man who let me set up my torch at his lovely house :). I was sitting at the bead table with mom while I made Kenne's key chain and mom decided that she wanted one.

Of course I couldn't let mom go without a key chain so I agreed to make her one. Here is what hers looks like. Crazy how much the changed from a boy key chain to a girl key chain!

Did I mention that my sister was over at the house too? You know she couldn't leave the house without one either! Here is her keychain ;) Pretty fun huh?

Now if only the beadmaker COULD GET ONE! ;)

Metamorphosis of a palmtree

I thought you all might like to see how the palm tree bead has changed over the last year. The teeniest one was the very first palm tree bead made in the medium lentil mold. The next palm tree was made in the largest lentil mold(in the mold trio) and the 3rd is a palm tree bead made in the 1" focal mold press. Pretty cool huh?!

I think it's really fun to see how much you have improved from the last time you have made a bead :) It isn't as apparent in the palm tree beads as it is in the beach beads as a whole. I will have to show you all a picture of the first beach beads vs. the new beach beads. It will knock your socks off! LOL.

Thanks for stopping by...

Who said you can't eat beads?!

Doesn't this look YUMMY?! Have you ever thought color or beads were so beautiful you wanted to eat them?! I have :D I had a blast photographing these beads in these awesome little cups from this restaurant in Ft. Collins, CO called Gellatze's(a gelato restaurant).
Here is another picture of the beads pouring out of the cup. These beads photographed the best. I had to darken the light setting to capture them in the most true color. If the green has too much light on it it looks really yellow. It's a very vibrant yellow-green called Parrot Green :D It's scrumptious!

Here is a picture of the other set. It's really pretty in person, but like I said I photographed it a little darker to make sure the green wasn't too buzzy.
Now here is a neat little thing I wanted to share with you. The bead appears to be pink right? Actually the bead is white encased with clear! There is then a layer of light pink dogs and then there are green dots placed on top of that. The pink of the initial dots seems to have reflected off of the clear glass making the bead appear pink! Isn't that amazing?! I thought this was really interesting and wanted to share it with you all :)

Well that's all for now...

Look what we did today!

Here is Kim's Wishing Wheel pendant(this is one of my original designs that was born in a fit of inspiration ;). I totally forgot to get an extra of the pastel class wheel's and dug up this one to make as a demo. Kim liked it so well she traded me. Didn't she do great?!
Kim also really liked my tassle necklace on the right(on Etsy) so we made her one as well. Isn't hers GORGEOUS?! I totally love it WAY better than mine ;) This style pendant is from Stephanie Sersich's amazing new book. Ours is a little bit different ;)
Here is Kim's necklace that she made from my set called "Dusk," it's even more beautiful in person. I should have totally taken a picture of her today! Her shirt and necklace together were just absolutely amazing!

Thanks for everything, Kim! You are such a blessing to me!

I hope everyone else is having a wonderful day. I think now I am going to just CHILL.... I seem to have been going non-stop since I got off the plane last night. Maybe a little R&R is in order! Talk with you all soon....

Home sweet home

Already up and moving. Today Kim is coming over to do the wishing wheel class with me this morning. I called Billie too to see if she could join us. We had such a wonderful time when we did the macrame flower bracelets (in the post below)! I think Kim picked the one with the yellow inside base on the left. I am working on one that is in fall colors.

Well I suppose I should get going. I have to fuel up for class and get everything set up. See you all soon!

I LOVE coffee!

Here are the beads I was really excited about!I absolutely LOVE coffee. I was trying to figure out what to make yesterday so I took a look at my sketch book for ideas. I had this one in there for awhile. I think thye came out great. You can't really see it in the picture, but each one of the coffee cups has little steam squiggles above it. The back side of the lentils have polka dots on them and the coffee beans are only creased on one side(or else they wouldn't look like coffee beans anymore!).
Here are some extras I made so that if someone gets the set($65.00) they could also get the matching pair to make into earrings($18.00).
Yeah, I know... This one is blurry. I am too lazy to retake it. When I was making the coffee bean I thought to myself about how it could also be a foot ball! I will totally make more of those when football season is coming up.

Well that is all for now. I hope you have enjoyed my offerings ;)

*Secret* B-day present revealed!

As promised... Here they are! The *secret* b-day beads! Aren't they cool? Here's a break down of what they are from left to right. Ivory with kitty paw prints and calico on the back, a gold fish on blue for water with "meow" on the back, a calico kitty with calico spots on the back, a heart with "love" on the back, a husky with a plain back, a dog bone on green for grass with "woof" on the back(My husband picked the green and blue for the bases, so I HAVE to give him credit for that ;) and white with black doggie paw prints on the front and black dots on the back :D

These beads are going to be turned into a bracelet sometime this afternoon. I will post a picture of that later as well.

Here is another set I made since I was finishing up the top set. This one is a calico kitty and 2 ivory lentils with kitty paw prints on the front and blank on the back. I made the cat eyes (also my hubby's suggestion) all googly since cat's have large eyes and they are totally CRAZY ;) This set is available for sale for $28.00. Contact me if you are interested otherwise this baby is going to be hitting a shop soon ;)

I am SUPER EXCITED about the beads I have in the kiln. More on that tomorrow ;)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Much love,

Genea
