Feeling fall color palette

Hello friends!

Today I am doing a TRIPLE DELIGHT on Etsy. Since I my Etsy shop will be closed while I am at the show fri-sun I thought I would list 3 UBER CUTE pendants! You are my Sunshine, Cloudy, and Little Black Raincloud. These remind me of those cute knitted amigurumi characters :)Remember when I felt so accomplished for tying up all of my bead sets and getting some things in order? This is what it looked like..
Remember the first day of Retro Daisies? I re-made a set(which I don't usually like doing) which was really well received last year and was super fun to make! Here are the retro daisies in chocolate with lime green and aqua.So you can get the set, or button or both and make a super fab bracelet!

I enjoyed making the retro daisies so much I thought I would finally call on that paper that inspired me .
The paper is kind of a rusty orange red with some kind of lightish olive flowers with burnt orange centers. It looks pretty washed out in the pic from the lamp light and flash. This is why I opted not to photograph on papers. They just seem to reflect too much light and wash things out. I really like the cool color reflections and dramatic gradation I get on my shiny white table surface.

Well I feel pretty accomplished with my posts so I had better leave you on that note. I have much to do before tomorrow show!

Wish me luck!!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Much love,

Genea

Garden Delights

Hello friends!

Here is that garden update I owed you. Please excuse some of the not so sharp pictures. My camera takes somewhat fuzzy pics if there is any movement.

Here are some pictures of my butterfly flowers. We almost thought we weren't going to get anything since it downpoured rain for 3 days after we scattered our seeds. I guess nature has a way of saying FU if it want to live huh?!

Next I have my little porch babies. I didn't include my lovely hibiscus since she didn't bloom this year. I made the mistake of repotting her just as spring was hitting. Pretty sure she was in the same make shift pot she came in for 2 years. I re-potted her in pretty new black organic soil. She is doing well, but is just all leafy instead of flowery.

So as not to bore you I just took pictures of my little potted lovlies...

Basil

Parsley
Jalapeno

I had to take a picture of my crazy Seedum too. That thing can seriously live anywhere with almost no extra watering. I chose to water it this year and look how HUGE it is!

And last, but not least(I always save the best for last! You can ask Melissa how that goes;)
Here is one of our little pablano pepper plants we acquired. Do you see it's little flower? *beams* There are even little buds where the peppers are starting to grow :D

Speaking of peppers. Melissa was kind enough to have brought me her very FIRST orange bell pepper to enjoy! It really warmed my heart to get the very first fruit of the harvest from a friend whom I love dearly :) We made some yummy pita pizzas and used it as a topping! It was YUM-MY!

This tomato plant was planted late and it was the first one to produce tomatoes :) Aren't they lovely? There is such a wonderful feeling from nurturing a little seed to a plant that produces fruits. Gardens really do feed the soul as well as the stomach :) I am so grateful to learn this bit of wisdom while I am younger so that I may enjoy lifes everyday pleasures :)

Where is everybody?

I know it sucks with our phone thing, but you all can still e-mail or come by to let us know you still love us!

Stars in your eyes and 8's in your ears

Hello friends!

Today's first pretty is made out of odd lot Bullseye! "Starry Eyed," features a crying eye on the front and a star on the back. The base is an amazing streaky deep violet.

Today's SNEAK PEEK item is some SUPER FUN Crazy 8's earrings. Until now I have only offered one pair on Etsy so I am excited to offer "Mystery Mix". I named this pair after one of my favorite candy's as a kid, now and laters mystery mix. It was swirly with bright green and purple! This funky pair is also made out of odd lot streaky Bullseye in colors of lime green and grapey purple with strands of bright teal.I am really excited about the new Retro Daisies I made the yesterday. I modeled the colors after a pattern on some scrap book paper and it's pretty FABOO, if I do say so myself! Again, I have a lot of pictures to catch up on, but I will get it here eventually.

I made more pieces for my secret new line that have I been dangling over your heads. I need a few more pieces to put them all together, but I will have a nice selection from which to choose when I do release them. It will be well worth the wait. I did end up with a few less already that managed to sneak out of my studio, but they have been very well received by those fortunate few that have gotten to see them so I am pretty stoked :)

My chef had to go to work early today so I am on my own for breakfast. I need to go eat and get on with making beads. I have A LOT to do again today and the show is fast approaching!!

Much love,

Focals and Retro Daisies

Hello friends!

It is fantastically gloomy and rainy this morning! I love days like this. :D I want to stay indoors and be creative :)

Today's early listing is a mock vessel with raked rose canes and bubbles in deep jewel tones.Today's late listing SNEAK PEEK item is another focal piece from an organic cave unnamed series I was working on. This bead is packed with interesting treasures from every angle with dichro, raku, silver leaf, silvered ivory, raku, murrini, goldstone and a healing hand on the front and eye on the back.

Well as you might have noticed I didn't get up the garden pictures yesterday like I had hoped. Running errands with my mom took up most of my afternoon. Then I went to the gym, showered, ate, made beads and then it was time to run off to pick Ricky up from work. Does anyone else feel like there just isn't enough time in the day?!

I didn't get to work for a long time yesterday, but I did manage to get a set of Retro Daisies done! I remade a set from last year with a base of chocolate brown , lime green and aqua dots and retro daisies. Here is a photo of the first set of beads.

Aren't they awesome?! I really love the colors together!

Well I am being called to breakfast! I wonder what my gourmet chef made me this morning? :D

We are doing the Zone eating plan and doing Cross fit work outs. Now before you totally turn away about the Zone eating plan just know it's not a crash course diet. It is a balanced way of eating eliminating some process carbohydrates. Crossfit is a different approach of working out for strength. It is really amazing.

Oh! Better go! I just got called for breakfast again!

Much love,

Eye for Hippies

Hello friends!

Today I have one of my Eyegasm beads. Why eyegasm? Well I am obsessed with eyes and this bead is pretty darned amazing if I do say so myself! There are multiple layers of transparents that give it such depth. This little beatuy is apricot orange and layers of limey greens.
Today's SNEAK PEEK item is a hippy swirl peace sign. I named this piece because it reminded me of this swirly glittery liquid I had seen once in downtown Kansas City called "It's a Beautiful Day." The base of this happy little peace sign is a light periwinkle with an electric dark lime peace sign. Hippy swirl on the back is glittery orange.
Back view.

So it looks like Mom is whisking me away to do some errands before I get on with my day. I have to get to the gym and get some beads done. I might just work on some fallish stuff for the Bokamo show. I was looking through my bead stash to see what I wanted to take to the show and came across some awesome fall stuff I had tucked away.

I did get some more pictures of my garden and plants that I will be uploading later. I hope I can get it done today, but if not keep an eye out for them during the week.

Have a sunny day!

Much love,

A sweet thought

Hello friends!

I just had to take a moment to thank a sweet, SWEET girl named Starla I met through Etsy. So you remember how I was in that treasury on my b-day for the July 11th b-day treasury? Well Starla was the birthday girl that put it all together and she was even celebrating her 30th b-day as well. I thought since she was so super sweet that I should send her the bead she put in our b-day treasury! It turns out her bead made it to her safely and she will be turning it into a piece on a wall hanging! How COOL!! She even blogged about her bead and my work on her page! AWWWWWW! That is so nice. I am so honored!

So you all should totally check out her blog and her work. Here is her blog about my work Curiousmess Blog . Starla makes some lovely things including these super cool bowls made out of fabric! Why don't you drop on by her shop Curious mess and check out her lovlies?

Again, a huge THANK YOU to Starla for including me in her treasury and helping spread the love!

With deepest love and gratitude,

Still selling on Etsy 5 days a week!

Hello friends!

I had a few questions come up about my status as far as my beads. So just for the record... I will still be selling on Etsy. I guess my last post made it sound like I wasn't so I thought I would just clarify here. I will do my regular 5 days a week listing on Etsy, trunk shows, and bead shows. I just won't be doing special custom orders since I will have this huge load with the other things.

Talk with you on Monday!

Have a great weekend!

Much love,

Genea

Just when you thought it was safe....

Hello friends!

Holy crap! Did I seriously just NOW wake up. Ugh... I thought I was over this sick thing!

Well since I got such a LATE start. Why don't I present both listings now? I didn't think you would mind ;)

First off I have a super BRIGHT pair of my Tendril style earrings! They are long and sassy not to mention full of COLOR and texture!

Next I have a cute little set of Love, Peace and Flower Power beads! Did you notice I even used RED?! ;)

I made a pendant awhile back with these beads and totally loved the way it turned out. I had totally meant to make more, but I seemed to have run out of the cute little bells I used!

Cool huh?! The teeny bells even make this sweet tinkle sound ;)

I was going to share some more pictures of my garden and tomato mile with you all, but my camera battery died yesterday. I spent the time I would have been photographing pulling out the tomatoes "suckers" and tying them up to their wire fence so they vine. I also weeded. I am so excited all of my little darlings are getting flowers and veggies.

So as far as my new design update.... Since I have been ill I have not gotten more beads made for my new line. It looks like I will have to postpone it's release a bit longer to get a few more things made before introducing them. It will totally be worth the wait!

Ok well, I better get going. I am going to try and do some catching up from the week to get things all squared away before the weekend.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Much love,

Genea

Maybe one more day

Hello friends!

I'm still feeling a little under the weather. I think I need one more day of resting to be tip top. Since I can actually sit in a chair today I will be listing items. I will be listing both now instead of doing a SNEAK PEEK today.

I have some lime and aqua EMO items today! First is a super COOL Lime heart with black freckles. On the front there is a skull and on the back is crossbones. On the sides are bumply dots.
Super fun huh?!

The second item is an EMO bone. This one is aqua and black ETCHED to perfection giving it that satiny feel. These two pieces together could make something super cool. Infact if you buy both and wish for the heart to be etched too just mention that in Etsy when you leave a note for the seller.

If you totally LOVE these two items I also have some amazing EMO buttons that would make a fantastic clasp! Just check the "Button Clasp" tag in my Etsy shop!
See you all soon!

Much love,

Genea

Earthy and Organic

Hello friends!

Today's listings have some wonderful organic style to them. First off I have a "Coral Sea" focal with some yummy Raku, silver, and whimsy. There is something interesting to be seen at every angle!

Today's SNEAK PEEK item is a Goddess made with Raku called "Earth Mother". She is very VOLUPTUOUS.

As I said yesterday I had some new designs bouncing around in my head and I am really pleased with the way they are turning out! I will be releasing the designs soon. I will give you a little hint. These are all finished pieces of jewelry!

Well I must be on my way! I have to get to making some things before hitting the gym!

Public Service Announcement

Hello friends!

I just wanted to give you a quick update and let you know that I will no longer be accepting customer orders at this time.

I will be working on things for some local and traveling trunk shows that will take up most of my time. As I get shows scheduled locally and outside of town you can get the latest updates here on my blog to see if Genea Beads will be visiting your area!

Summer's Sparkle

Hello friends!

Good morning! Wow, it's been awhile since I have been this far in my day at this time. I guess I kinda got on a later schedule from Tues and Weds with Holly and Brandon(they are the super late night people).

So anyways... I have a super, sparkly flower bracelet for today's early listing. It is made out of the fabulous Pineapple and Tangerine sparkle glass so it is super GLITTERY! What girl doesn't love glitter?! This beauty it masterfully macramed with little drops and leaves. It is super comfy to wear and perfect for this time of year!
Your SNEAK PEEK item today is a fun little "Sunshine Cuppy Cake" cellphone charm. How about a delicious cupcake that is totally calorie free?! I apologize for the teeny picture!
Kristin's latest blog just reminded me of the awesome pictures that Stephanie and Lucas took for me at DISNEY LAND!

Here are the earrings made called "Mad Hatter's Tea Party". She made these super AWESOME earrings out of the beads I just sent her. You can purchase this truly unique pair of earrings in her shop Waking Beauty Designs

I can't wait to go! Someday I will make it out to both parks!

I have been working on some new designs and will get those together and photographed soon. Stay tuned!

Much love,

Genea

Flowertastic!

Hello friends!

I am SUPER excited to offer one of my macrame flower bracelets for one of today's offerings! This one is even MORE amazing that it's predecessor's! For this new style bracelet I used some GORGEOUS varigated perle cotton, some waxed linen, some c-lon and one of my SUPER AWESOME peace flower buttons for the clasp! If you LOVE pastels this is YOUR bracelet!
Today's SNEAK PEEK item is a swirly pair of my Trapeze earrings made out of odd lot Bullseye glass. I just LOVE these earrings. They are so dainty and sweet!
It is SO beautiful out today! I actually have the windows open! I can feel a cool breeze sweep through the room as I type :) Ahhhhh.... How often do you really get to open your windows in July?!

I am SO excited! My tomatoes have FLOWERS! You know what flowers mean?! Yep! TOMATOES!! Horay! I am so excited my little darlings are starting to make fruits :D:D:D

Well sadly I must go.. I am joining my darling husband for some yummy Chinese for lunch and then off to the studio I go. I should really try out some of that FANTASTIC Bullseye Kristin brought me. Hmmmmm.....

Have a fantastic weekend!

Kristin's Beads

Don't panic it's organic

Hello friends!

I have some organic goodies for you today, well not in the food sense. This is just more of a random style with no specific design. My first offering is a bead from my Delicious Pod series called "Rain". I named this series "Delicious Pod" because they were so pretty I wanted to eat them :) This little beauty features a lovely rain blue with bits of color shifting raku, and trapped bubbles(which is one of my favorite things to add to beads). The next SNEAK PEEK item for todays late listing is another one of my organic beads that was from a series that I didn't really name, but seemed along the lines of some cave ancient series. "The Omen" features some of Creation is Messy's amazing Plum glass with Raku, silvered ivory, dichro and bits of magic!

The bead does appear a bit more black in this picture, but it is various shades of deep to light purple with a somewhat opaly translucent color to it. It is much more beautiful in person :D

In other news I am going with the Bead Boutique girls to Brenda's new bead shop to "welcome her to the neighborhood". I am excited to see what she has in her shop!

I am really excited about the set I made for Kristin! I just got it completed last night. Kristin was kind enough to give me her ENTIRE glass stash so I told her she could place an order for whatever she wanted and I would be happy to make her stuff :D

I am totally excited about the LOAD of Bullseye she gave me as well!

I might just sneak a peek of Kristin's beads on my blog and see how long it takes her to notice >:D

See you later today!

Much love,

Genea

Listings and designer pieces

Hello friends!

So I guess you may have noticed that I didn't post your sneak peek yesterday right? Well, fear not, you didn't miss anything. I didn't get to my second listings. I was SUPER busy again yesterday. It turns out doing my posting, making beads and going to the gym takes up a HUGE chunk of my day!

So without further delay...

Today I have a fun, bright pair of Crazy Daisy earrings to offer! They are etched too, which I don't do too often, but totally should! Etched beads have such a wonderful satin feel.

Today's SNEAK PEEK is "Forbidden Dreams" passion heart made out of amazing Bullseye glass!
I just LOVE the richly saturated and unique colors of the Bullseye palette!

What a fantastic surprise! Today when I was checking my blog I was reading Kristin's post www.wakingbeautydesigns.blogspot.com and she made some earrings out of the demo beads I made when she came over to play in the studio!Aren't they AMAZING? You know what I love about them besides their fiberiness? They are ASYMMETRICAL! A lot of people totally freak when things aren't matching. If you are one of those, today I encourage you to embrace the madness! ;)

I think I totally FORGOT to show you this lovely design from one of my customers, Jan Dees. Her inner muse was calling and she made these lovely pieces!Thank you for sharing your lovely work, Jan!

Remember when I made that dragonfly focal for my friend Sandy's birthday? Here is the necklace we made together when I was filling in at Bead Boutique! It is kind of a small image so you can't see all of the details, but I am really pleased with the results!

See you later on Etsy!

Much love,

Genea

Lost in Space

Hello friends!

Woo hoo! I am ON it today! I got the first listing up before 11! I have been SO busy lately that I havn't been getting my first listing done until like 2pm!

Today I have an earring pair inspired by one of my FAVORITE artists, Peter Max! I always love to look at inspiration pictures and try to see what the artist saw when they created something. These little space rocks are full of COLOR! Lots of varying shades of orange, red, green, and purple!
I just LOVE his work! His older work is my favorite. It has SO much color and things like stars and messages with "Love".

Busy, busy today! See you soon!

Much love,

Genea
